Next week, our school will be participating in National Literacy and Numeracy Week, an important initiative in schools aiming to promote strong literacy and Numeracy skills in students.
Students in Years 1 - 7 will take part in a literacy and numeracy trivia competition on Wednesday 29th August, competing in mixed groupings across year levels. All students will also be given the option of participating in a literacy challenge, for which prizes will be awarded for the winning entry from each class.
Junior students are challenged to create an acrostic poem, and senior students can write either a poem or a personal response. Both challenges will be based on the topic, 'What makes SCSS so great!'
On Friday at assembly we have a very special guest speaker who will address the students about his vision for this wonderful community we all enjoy and also on 'Raising the Bar'. Mr Sinnathamby will also present to our student leaders 10 copies of his new biography for borrowing through our Resource Learning Hub.
A very special thanks to the P&C for their kind donation, enabling the purchase of prizes for the challenge. Entries will be judged by Mrs Gooley, and prizes will be awarded at assembly on Friday 31st August. We hope you can join us.
