We are currently in the consultation stage of our journey towards a possible Expression of Interest to be an Independent Public School in 2015. In Queensland, there are currently 80 Independent Public Schools, the most relevant being our local Springfield Central State High School.
At our last P&C General Meeting, the principal of Springfield Central State School, Mr Joseba Larrazabal took us through the process and benefits and answered questions from the floor. It was a very informative session that motivated us to further investigate the option.

These documents provide a great deal of information about what it means for us to become an Independent Public School.
At our P&C Meeting next week, we invite you along to ask any questions and make any comments. Consultation is an important part of the process; we require majority community and staff support to progress with an Expression of Interest. If you would like to lodge questions prior to the meeting, please email the question to email@example.com and I will be sure to include a response in my presentation.
After the P&C Meeting next week, we will release a survey to attain your input in relation to whether we should proceed with an Expression of Interest or not. It is important to know that of the potential hundreds of applications; only 40 schools will be selected.
My personal belief is that with greater autonomy we will achieve greater success. Of particular interest to a new and very quickly expanding school, is the autonomy in staffing allowing us direct recruitment of classified and non-classified teaching staff at any time. I will outline in further detail the benefits I see for our amazing school at the P&C Meeting.
I look forward to seeing many of you at the P&C on Tuesday 19th August for a 6:00pm start.
