HAPPY NATIONAL LITERACY & NUMERACY WEEK

25/08/2014
Welcome to National Literacy and Numeracy Week!
At Springfield Central State School, we celebrate our students’ literacy and numeracy skills during this very special week. Your child will participate in a range of exciting activities, including:
* Trivia Challenge.  An exciting opportunity for students to work in groups to answer a range of trivia questions in the categories of Literacy, Numeracy, Mixed Bag and SC Way.  Great prizes are on offer.
* Guess Our Favourite Book Competition.  Students are encouraged to visit our wonderful RLH to see a range of book covers on display.  Can they match the favourite books to our staff members? The student with the most number correct in grades 1 – 6 and the winning Prep class will receive a book pack prize on assembly this week. Entries close Thursday at 2.45pm.
* Writing Challenge.  Students are able to complete a persuasive advertisement, advertising all of the wonderful things about Springfield Central State School. A winning entry from grades 1 - 6 and the winning Prep class will be judged by staff and presented with a book prize on assembly this week. Entries close Thursday 2.45pm.
* Reading ‘Sunday Chutney’. During RLH visits this week, class teachers will read the charming picture book ‘Sunday Chutney’ to their class.
* Plus many others.
Please talk to your children about the wonderful activities they are engaging with at SCSS this week.  For further information about NLNW, visit: http://www.literacyandnumeracy.gov.au/
